How long has Mitchem Tire & Auto been in business?
Mitchem Tire has been family-owned and operated in southwest Missouri since 1939, when C.E. Mitchem opened the first shop. Today, the fourth generation of the Mitchem family carries on that same commitment — 87 years and counting of keeping Ozark-region drivers safe on the road.
Why do Southwest Missouri drivers choose Mitchem over the big chains?
Because we’re neighbors, not a call center. Our technicians are ASE-certified and use the same modern diagnostic equipment as the national chains, but every decision is made at the local level by people who live here — not a corporate office. Will you try to sell me repairs I don't need?
No. We only recommend work your vehicle actually needs, and we’ll show you what we find — including photos from our digital vehicle inspection — so you can see it for yourself before deciding. If something can wait, we’ll tell you it can wait.

What's included with a new tire purchase?
Every new tire purchase includes professional mounting, computerized balancing, an alignment check, road hazard protection, and lifetime rotations and balancing for as long as you own the tires.
What tire brands do you carry?
We carry all major tire brands across every price point, from budget-friendly options to premium performance tires, so you can find the right fit for your vehicle and budget without driving to multiple shops to compare.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome, and we offer same-day service for most tire installations and many common repairs — because we know tire or car trouble doesn’t wait for a convenient time.
Do you offer a shuttle or ride while I wait?
Yes. Every Mitchem location offers a ride if you need it (within a 3-5 mile radius) so you’re not stuck waiting in the lobby if you need to get to work, home, or an appointment while we take care of your vehicle.
Is a diagnostic check free?
Basic checks — like a quick look at a warning light, tire pressure issue, or noise — are free. More involved diagnostic work on complex electrical or engine issues carries a fee, which we’ll always explain and get your approval on before we begin work.

Our ASE-certified technicians work on all makes and models — cars, trucks, and SUVs, domestic and import (including European vehicles) — plus tires for trailers, farm equipment, motorcycles, and RVs.
